Plano, TX – Aug. 27, 2018 – NTT DATA Services, a recognized leader in global technology services, is pleased to announce the company’s Chief Information Officer, Barry Shurkey, received the 2018 Tech Titans Corporate CIO Award for his exceptional technical leadership through the acquisition of the former Dell Services.

“I am honored to be recognized among such a prestigious group of leaders in the technology industry in Dallas-Fort Worth,” Shurkey said. “Being tasked with leading the integration of two global competitors was no small feat, but throughout the 18-month integration period, I was fortunate to be surrounded with talented and committed team members who assisted in ensuring a seamless transition.”

Shurkey led the integration of multiple technical systems and platforms across more than 40 countries for the ~$3B acquisition of Dell Services that began in November 2016. The integration included the migration of more than 23,000 laptops and desktops, 6,500 devices, 1,600 data circuits, 1,000 applications and 9 data centers. Through his meticulous and proactive approach, the integration allowed NTT DATA Services to improve its global reach, offer new cost-effective solutions, expand its portfolio of services and increase its range of capabilities within the industry verticals.

Shurkey has more than 30 years of experience in the IT services industry, and previously held leadership roles with Travelport, Vertex Business Systems, EDS and HP. He has been with NTT DATA Services since 2013 and has played an integral role in optimizing and advancing the company’s IT roadmap.

“The Dell Services acquisition presented one of the largest and most complex projects in the IT industry’s recent history, and every one of our post-merger integration work streams was dependent upon the success of this 22-month IT integration,” said Bob Pryor, CEO for NTT DATA Services. “Barry and his team always delivered and completed their projects and key deliverables ahead of their committed schedule and budget. Their efforts set the stage for our further innovations in automation, artificial intelligence, cloud-based services, security and more.”

The Tech Titans Awards were launched in 2001 by Tech Titans, the largest technology trade association in Texas. The prestigious annual contest recognizes outstanding technology companies and individuals in the North Texas area who have made contributions during the past year locally, as well as to the technology industry overall.

All finalists were honored at the Tech Titans Awards Gala at Renaissance Dallas on Aug. 24.
